WHO

WE ARE

#NoWomanLagBehind is a mock marketing campaign that hopes to show the possibility of larger organizations being able to provide resources and material to help assist discrimination in online communities. Esports is a largely male-dominated industry for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons is the prevalence of harassment that women face when they play video games. This can make them feel not included, which leads to a lesser participation of this demographic. Another reason is the lack of female oriented marketing material promoting women gamers and participation. Most of the marketing campaigns you see in the esports space is male-targeted, and we hope to be able to provide examples of more women-targeted or gender neutral marketing material.

OUR

TEAM

Our team consists of two Communication Media students at North Carolina State University. We created this site for one of our class project where we were asked to create an intervention in an area of interest using some form of media. We both actively play video games and have noticed this harassment in our past and present experiences. We hope that this site can give people an idea that campaigns like these can help create an even playing field among all genders and identities.
